World Banjo Ukulele Day - History
The origins of World Banjo Ukulele Day lie in the UK, where it was founded by Alyson Yates of Alan Yates Music for the Banjo Ukulele Society (B.U.S.) β the first dedicated banjo ukulele group of its kind.
Established on 19th November 2022, the day quickly grew from a local initiative into a worldwide celebration, now enjoyed by hundreds of members and enthusiasts across the globe.
The aim was clear: to create a day not only to honour the banjo ukulele itself, but also to celebrate the way it brings people and countries together through music, joy, and community.
World Banjo Ukulele Day is now observed every year on 19th November, marking the anniversary of the Societyβs founding and the start of this global tradition. #worldbanjoukuleleday
