Set-Ups, Maintenance, Repairs & Restorations.
for - Ukulele, Banjo Ukulele and Guitars.
All instruments at some stage need to be set-up and more often than not especially new instruments need to be set-up before you can even play them.
Then their is the general maintenance of them to keep them in tip top condition.
If something breaks you can't play and enjoy them until they are repaired.
Some people would also prefer to have their instrument refurbished rather than replaced, especially when it comes to sentimental value.
Alyson stands by her saying "when you find the right instrument it fit's like a glove" and it's true.
You can have 20 different guitars but there might be just one that fits like a glove where it feels right in size, weight, feel, sound etc.
Whether your instrument cost hundreds or thousands, they all need an M.O.T and T.L.C.
That's Where We Come In...
From Alan's own personal experience of 30+ years of playing, learning to maintain, repair and refurbish.
Combing years of experience and knowledge.
All ukuleles, banjo's ukuleles and guitars, which are made from wood, are subject to changes in temperature and humidity.
As well as requiring to be set-up when they are new they also require periodic maintenance and adjustment in order to ensure
a maximum level of performance and play-ability.
If you have a new instrument that requires a full-set-up and you are not sure what needs to be done or
not comfortable in making the adjustments yourself that's where we can help.
It is also not uncommon with a new instrument that there may be a 'settling in' period where you will need to have tweak adjustments made.
If you have an instrument that requires a periodic maintenance check then we are here to help with that too.
How often a maintenance check is required does vary with how often the instrument is played and the climate to which it is kept in.
As a general guideline for proper set-up adjustments, approximately every 6 months is the recommended time frame.
Aging and accidents happen, so sometimes instruments need to be repaired, be it a small repair job to major surgery, and when they do start aging you may consider a bit of a touch up to a full restoration for your instrument -
We do them all.
We also repair and renovate cases to, inside and out. (see our gallery for some examples).
